81% Check up in Google or Facebook before First Date

Curiosity is one of typical human traits. And it becomes stronger when you meet someone who you intend to turn into your future lover. Google and Facebook come here to the rescue. According to an unofficial survey four people out of five look through profiles on Facebook in order to find out more about the person they are interested in.

This info appeared at radio station Alice @97.3 in San Francisco. It is not clear if it held the opinion poll or not and moreover how many people took part in this survey.

In spite of the fact that these data may be not verified they are of concern to us as the results provide interesting conclusions. It emerged that about 47 percent of survey respondents tend to veil their personality, to become enigmatic with the purpose to make it not easy for their prospective date to learn their character.

It was not counted but there is a proposition that the number of women who prefer to become an air of mystery is higher than those of men as it corresponds with content of a famous dating advice book The Rules.

As a mater of fact one of every ten believes that they can know their potential date inside out without even meeting the person but checking only their Facebook profiles.

If you did not make an effort to get acquainted with your date before meeting him/her in person you can probably be disappointed and your first rendezvous may end faster than you expect. According to the results of survey, typical excuses to slip away are the following:

  • 64 percent have faked being sick or having a headache to escape;
  • 28 percent have faked work emergencies; 33 percent had friends call with phony emergencies;
  • 9 percent have snuck away while a date was in the bathroom.

It seems that the results of the survey are true for people in their 30s and 40s first of all. The older we are the more careful we chose people to communicate with. But may be this practice will get more popularity in course of time.
