Previoulsy we had a look on the Facebook office inside, and now Mark Zuckerberg invited legendary architect Frank Gehry to design a new campus for the social network employees in Silicon Valley.
It should be a unique workspace for 3400 engineers that support and update the most popular social network in the world.
According to the already developed designs, Facebook engineering team will get together in a giant room with no dividers. It is assumed that this will be the biggest open office in the world, following with Zuckerberg’s idea to make the “world a more open place”.
The total area after the construction will be 93,000 square meters. In addition to the office there will be a fitness center, basketball court, conference room and two cafes.
The roof of the new building will be planted with trees, and under the earth it will be connected with tunnels to the main office of the company. It is expected that the construction will be started in 2013.
Now the majority of the Facebook employees are working in the East Campus, which has a capacity of about 6000 people.
