Facebook introduced a Facebook Messenger for Android and iPhone. It is specially designed to send messages and chat on Facebook. Application is already available for download on Android Market and App Store.
Facebook Messenger is a result of purchasing a young company Beluga, which Facebook has made in March. This is the second mobile application from Facebook. Before that, the only official program was a mobile client of the social network.
“It’s a mobile app about real-time communication,” – said Beluga co-founder and Facebook engineer Ben Davenport. All messages are sent and received in real time — no refreshing required.
One can send photos together with messages. The program can also notify users of incoming messages.
Facebook noted that soon all the functionality of Messenger will be transferred to the main Facebook Mobile App, but still Messenger will be available as a specialized program just for a chat.
